Koh Ker, Cambodia, 2009, 2010

The topographic surveys of the temples and their environment are basic elements of the complex survey at Koh Ker. We surveyed the basic elements of landscape archeology connected to the temples in 2009.  Our survey has revealed several pieces of information abiut the temples. The terrain features model showed the function of the water-system around the temples and the location of the dams. The big terragonal pool bordered by the dams had another, smaller pool as well at the entrance aof the sanctuary. We discovered further pools by the two sides of the big one. It helped us to understand the complex elements aof water usage. We got coordinates by using a GPS at the site. The dam-system was surveyed by a grid-system. We integrated the datas into a standard projection system. We added important information to the previous surveys. Our surveys reflects on the topographical, archeological and architectural features of the area. The heritage protection documentation is based on the detailed surveys we made there.

Here we had 4 hours until the transfer to Ladakh. This was the plan. We were on late, so just missed the plane to Ladakh…
